Trigg County General Election Results

Trigg County can mark one thing in the record book at the close of the 2020 November General Election.

County Clerk Carmen Finley tells the News Edge 7,393 ballots have been cast or about a 58-percent voter turnout. She adds there are 65 ballots not yet counted. Those ballots have until Friday to be counted, as long as they were postmarked by Tuesday.

The number of ballots cast is a record in Trigg County, with the November 2012 Presidential Election seeing 6,824 ballots cast. The highest voter turnout percentage came from the November 1992 Presidental Election with 74.5-percent.

Finley believes the early voting was a plus for this election.

 

Finley took the chance to thank everyone who helped keep the election running smoothly in Trigg County.

 

In the county, many incumbents won over their opposers.

President Donald Trump won over Joe Biden, 5,484 to 1,788.

In the United States Senator race, Mitch McConnell was declared the winner over Amy McGrath, 4,998 to 2,030 votes.

In the 1st District U.S. Representative race, James Comer beat James Rhodes, 5,536 to 1,742.

Jason Howell, who was unopposed in the 1st District Kentucky Senate race, received 5,978 votes. Howell will take over the seat previously held by Stan Humphries of Cadiz.

In the 5th District State Representative race, Mary Beth Imes beat Shannon Davis-Roberts, 3,314 to 1,053 votes.

In the 8th District State Representative race, Walker Thomas won over Democratic challenger Pam Dossett, 2,102 to 804.

In the Court of Appeals 1st Appellate District race, incumbent Chris McNeill beat Jenny Hines, 2,612 to 2,403 votes.

In Trigg County Board of Education races, Gayle Rufli, Jo Alyce Harper, and Theresa Allen ran unopposed and won another term in their respective districts.

Also, the first constitutional amendment question dealing with rights for crime victims passed in the county with nearly double the votes for yes, 3,993 to 2,110. The second question dealing with an increase of judicial terms was a strong no, with 3,933 votes against and 2,256 votes for it.
