One person was injured in a wreck caused by a deer carcass on Interstate 69 in Caldwell County Wednesday morning.

Chief Deputy Chris Noel reports Deputy Coleman Dixon responded to a call just before 5:30 a.m. regarding three vehicles involved in three separate collisions around the 85 mile marker related to a deer.

According to Deputy Noel, an investigation determined 59-year old Timothy Cullen, of Dawson Springs, was driving southbound when he hit a deer causing substantial damage to his car but no injuries.

He says 21-year old Zackery Davis, of Benton, was behind Cullen’s vehicle and also hit the deer in the roadway, causing minor damage to his car but no injuries.

A third vehicle, operated by 26-year old Dominick Yarbrough, of Madisonville, was also driving behind the other two vehicles and hit the deer carcass in the road, causing him to lose control. Deputy Noel says Yarbrough’s vehicle went into the median, went airborne, and landed on its passenger side. The vehicle then crossed into the northbound lane and went down an embankment where Noel says it continued to flip and overturn.

Yarbrough was taken to Caldwell County Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries.

Deputy Dixon was assisted at the scene by the Caldwell County Fire Department and Caldwell County Ambulance.
