Trial for Former Hopkinsville Police Officer Postponed Again

A trial for a retired Hopkinsville Police officer has been postponed yet again.

According to a court document released Thursday, the November 20th trial date for former Lt. Jefferson Alexander has been vacated. The order explained a new Special Prosecutor is being assigned to the case.

A pre-trial conference has since been ordered by Christian Circuit Judge John Atkins to occur Wednesday morning, January 27.

Alexander was indicted in March 2019 for first-degree perjury by the Christian County Grand Jury for allegedly providing false testimony to them in 2012 in the case of former city councilwoman Ann Cherry. She was charged with official misconduct, tampering with a witness, and tampering with public records. Cherry resigned from her council seat as a part of a plea agreement.
