Gateway Academy A Partner in Federal Grant for Paramedic Class

The Christian County Public School system announced they are the recipient of a recent grant.

School spokesman John Rittenhouse said Congressman James Comer was in Marion to announce the $469,331 grant Tuesday. He added Gateway Academy to Innovation and Technology has been selected to participate in the USDA Delta Health Care Services grant in partnership with Madisonville Community College, Hopkinsville Community College, and West Area Health Education Center.

The grant will allow the Christian County school system to expand the Health Science Program at Gateway Academy by adding a Paramedic Pathway starting in August 2021.

Gateway Academy Principal Penny Knight said the main benefit they recognize is offering additional pathways and career opportunities to students of Christian County schools that will lead to successful life transitions.

President Donald Trump’s administration recently invested over $610,000 to expand educational opportunities in western Kentucky.
