Christian County Grand Jury Returns Indictments

The Christian County Grand Jury returned indictments Friday on charges of rape and unlawful transaction with a minor and numerous first-degree wanton endangerment charges.

Dewayne L. Johns

The grand jury indicted Dewayne L. Johns on three counts of first-degree rape, three counts of second-degree rape, two counts of first-degree unlawful transaction with a minor – illegal sex act, and three counts of first-degree sexual abuse – victim under the age of 12. The charges stem from various incidents from May 2016 to September 2020 between two separate victims.

Quinasia L. Daniels

Also, Quinasia L. Daniels and Qaneisha L. Taylor were each indicted on one charge of first-degree wanton endangerment. Daniels was also indicted on charges of marijuana possession while armed, and one charge each of fourth-degree assault – domestic violence and fourth-degree assault.

Qaneisha L. Taylor

The charges stem from an incident on August 27, where Hopkinsville Police said they were called to Sylvan Terrace for a report of shots fired. When officers arrived, they found Daniels and Taylor fighting. The women were reportedly fighting over a gun that Daniels had gotten out of a vehicle when it discharged. Police also observed Daniels slapping a third woman, Jada Johnson, in the face.

Dayron Alexander Caldwell

The grand jury indicted Dayron Alexander Caldwell on two counts of first-degree wanton endangerment, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, and first-degree persistent felony offender. The charges originate from September 28 when Hopkinsville Police say his child’s mother and another woman went to Caldwell’s home to get mattresses. The women attempted to enter the home by breaking a window, with Caldwell reportedly firing three shots into the air and one at the woman’s vehicle, hitting it. After the altercation, Caldwell allegedly followed the women to their home at James Village and pulled a gun on her again while breaking the window out of one of the women’s vehicles. No one was injured in the shooting.

Jermon D. Childs

And Jermon D. Childs was indicted on eight counts of first-degree complicity to wanton endangerment and three counts of first-degree criminal mischief. The charges come after Childs was arrested on August 30 on a warrant for those charges. The incident occurred on April 21 when Hopkinsville Police said Childs was involved in a shooting on Brown Street that led to three homes being damaged.
