Thursday Regional COVID-19 Update

Kentucky Public Health Commissioner Dr. Steven Stack said Thursday afternoon the state has been ahead of CDC guidelines when it comes to the definition of close contact concerning COVID-19.

Dr. Stack added their new guidance was released Wednesday and involved a study with a correctional officer.

He said the conclusion reached at the end of the study stated the accumulative exposure to each of the individuals resulted in being exposed.

Stack added their thinking already mentioned this very issue about a month ago.

Governor Andy Beshear confirmed 1,330 new COVID-19 cases across the Commonwealth Thursday. Also, 17 new deaths, raising the death toll to 1,380 since the pandemic began.]

Officials with the Christian County Health Department confirmed the county’s 29th COVID-linked death Thursday morning.

Spokeswoman Amanda Sweeney said the deceased was an 86-year old Caucasian female with underlying health conditions. She also extended their thoughts and prayers to the friends and family of the woman who passed away.

Sweeney added Thursday afternoon 11 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed. The county has 271 active cases, 180 are either 59 or younger and 91 are 60 or older.

Of the total 1,817 total cases, 1,517 have recovered.

Officials with the Pennyrile District Health Department confirmed 11 new COVID-19 cases Thursday in Caldwell, Lyon, and Trigg counties.

Trigg County reported seven new cases including four females and three males between the age of 41 and 82. All are isolated at home. There are now a total of 236 cases.

Caldwell and Lyon counties each had two new cases that were both males. All are isolated at home. Caldwell County now has 235 total cases and Lyon County has 105 total cases.
