Elementary School at Fort Campbell Closed Due to COVID-19 Cases

An elementary school at Fort Campbell has closed for two-weeks and transitioned to remote learning due to COVID-19.

Barsanti Elementary School Principal Hugh McKinnon sent a letter to parents Wednesday stating that after a thorough assessment of COVID-related cases at the school and the associated quarantine requirements for key staff, the school building will be closed from Thursday, October 22 through Wednesday, November 4th. He said students will return to the building on Thursday, November 5th. He noted students enrolled in the Department of Defense Education Activity’s (DoDEA) Virtual School are not impacted by this change.

McKinnon said out of an abundance of caution the school will undergo a thorough cleaning and disinfecting in accordance with the Centers for Disease and Control Prevention (CDC) and military Public Health guidance. He added school officials are working closely with military leaders and public health officials on Fort Campbell to support additional contact tracing efforts. He added the safety of their students, staff and community is their top priority.
