Christian County Public Schools’ Superintendent Chris Bentzel said he still feels confident about the district’s plan to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 and keeping students and staff healthy and safe in the classroom.

During his weekly COVID update Tuesday afternoon, Bentzel said he feels they are doing well after students and staff returned to school after fall break. He shared the latest COVID dashboard which currently includes seventeen positive cases district-wide.

He added the key is going to be keeping staff healthy and in the classrooms.

Bentzel said they had approximately 700 Virtual Learning Academy students who returned to in-person instruction on Monday and it was a smooth transition.

As the News Edge previously reported after the last school board meeting, Bentzel announced plans to bring middle school students using the hybrid model back into traditional learning five days a week beginning next month. On Tuesday, Bentzel said he still feels confident moving forward with that plan because he feels the procedures they have in place is working well.

Bentzel added they also plan to bring high school students who are using the hybrid model back into traditional learning in the future, but right now they are taking it day by day.
