Indictments Returned For Attempted Murder and in Fatal Hit and Run

The Christian County Grand Jury returned several indictments Friday morning, including a Hopkinsville man charged with attempted murder and a Crofton man who was charged in connection to a fatal hit-and-run in a separate case.

44-year old Brian Daniel Ellis of Hopkinsville was indicted for two counts of attempted murder, six counts of first-degree wanton endangerment, trafficking in a controlled substance under 2 grams – methamphetamine, tampering with physical evidence, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The charges stem from September 1st when Christian County sheriff’s deputies were called to the 2900 block of Dawson Springs Road for a report of shots fired and found a home had been hit twice. Shortly thereafter, they were called to the 10,000 block of Hart Road for a car that had been hit in a second shooting. Deputies said they determined Ellis was involved in both shootings and he was located and arrested on Wallace Avenue in Hopkinsville. He was lodged in the Christian County Jail.

Alan Ray Barnett

The grand jury also indicted 58-year old Alan Ray Barnett of Crofton for leaving the scene of an accident/failure to render aid or assistance with death or serious physical injury.

The charges are in connection to a fatal hit-and-run on South Madisonville Street in Crofton that occurred on the morning of August 19th. Christian County sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene and found 20-year old Jared Yoder was riding a bicycle on South Madisonville Road when he was hit and killed by a truck. Deputies determined Barnett was driving the truck and he was later located at a home on North Old Madisonville Street in Crofton where he was arrested. Barnett was booked into the Christian County Jail.

Jordan Lee Anderson

Also, 28-year-old Jordan Lee Anderson of Oak Grove was indicted on charges of first-degree wanton endangerment and fourth-degree assault. The charges stem from August 29 when Oak Grove Police responded to his residence on Trevor Lane in reference to domestic violence. Upon arrival, police made contact with the victim, his girlfriend, who stated Anderson pushed her into a door injuring her right knee. The victim also told police Anderson picked up an AR-15 and pointed it at her and then pointed it at the floor.

Leslie Lee Chester

And 56-year-old Leslie Lee Chester of Hopkinsville was indicted on a charge of failure to comply with the sex offender registry. The charges stem Chester was arrested on a warrant by Kentucky State Police. The warrant said he had failed to comply with registration requirements of the Kentucky Sex Offender Registry and the address he had listed was not able to be verified. Chester was arrested on September 6 at a Jan Drive residence.
