Hopkinsville Woman Charged With Four Counts Of Child Abuse

A Hopkinsville woman was charged after her four children were found alone in a home with drugs Monday night.

Hopkinsville Police say they were called to North O’Neal Avenue by family members to check the welfare of 37-year-old Irean Coleman’s children who were home alone while she went to use drugs. Police say they found a 6-year-old watching a 4-year-old and a 2-year-old along with a 7-month-old child.

The home was allegedly found with empty food containers and wrappers on the floor along with bugs and minimal furniture. Police say the children had dirty diapers and rashes and appeared to have not been bathed recently.

Meth along with synthetic drugs were reportedly found in the home where the children could accidentally consume them.

Police reportedly waited in the area for Coleman to return and charged her with possession of meth, trafficking in synthetic drugs, first-degree wanton endangerment, four counts of first-degree criminal abuse, four counts of abandonment of a minor, and four counts of endangering the welfare of a minor.

The children are now being taken care of by family members.
