Beshear Reports Highest-Ever Single Day Number of COVID Cases Saturday

Governor Andy Beshear announced 1,275 new positive coronavirus cases Saturday, the highest-ever single-day total, and the highest-ever weekly total of new cases since the outbreak began earlier this year.

The governor said this is the highest number of cases per week ever and we have one more day that will add to the count, and it shows that we have to do better.

Of the newly reported cases Saturday, Governor Beshear said 166 were from children age 18 and younger, with 27 of those five and younger. He added the youngest was just two months old.

Saturday’s high number of cases pushed the state’s total to 72,001 and there have been 12,121 recoveries.

The governor also reported eight new deaths Saturday, which included the COVID-related deaths of a 66-year old woman and an 89-year old man in Christian County announced Friday by the local health department.

As of Saturday, the state’s positivity rate was at 4.74%.
