A 56-year old man was killed in a single-vehicle wreck in Calloway County Thursday evening.
Calloway County Sheriff Nicky Knight reports deputies responded to Roosevelt Road near the intersection of East Walnut Street in Dexter around 7:00 p.m. and found an SUV off the road.
According to the preliminary investigation, Ernie Lowe of Dexter was westbound on Roosevelt Road when his vehicle partially exited the right side of the roadway, at which time he overcorrected and the SUV to exit the left side of the road. The vehicle then traveled down a steep embankment and Lowe, who deputies reported was not wearing his seatbelt, was ejected.
Sheriff Knight says the preliminary investigation also indicates the use of a cell phone and intoxication are possible contributing factors that led to the crash.
