The Aaron McNeil House in Hopkinsville and the Caldwell County Extension Office will be receiving funding from Atmos Energy through its Fueling Safe and Thriving Communities program during September’s Hunger Action Month.
Atmos Energy President and CEO, Kevin Akers says hunger affects children in every community they serve. He adds Atmos Energy is making this contribution to support local food programs in the 1,400 communities they serve, so hungry children get the food they need before, during, and after the school day and on weekends and holidays as well.
Data shows an estimated 18 million children face hunger nationwide, and food insecurity has increased since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Of the $2 million, Atmos Energy Kentucky, received $131,500 to allocate across its service territory which includes 16 communities.
