The Muhlenberg County sheriff passed away unexpectedly Tuesday.
The Leader-News in Central City confirmed that Ricki Allen has passed away, but details of how he died have not been released, although it was not in the line of duty.
Allen was elected sheriff in 2018 following a career with Kentucky State Police. The newspaper said Sheriff Allen was a friend to all he met and a great supporter of Muhlenberg County.
Kentucky State Police are investigating Allen’s death, but foul play is not suspected.
