Christian County Grand Jury Returns Indictments on Assault and Robbery Charges

In addition to the murder indictment against Tyresse Hollowell, the Christian County Grand Jury also returned indictments on charges of assault and robbery Friday afternoon.

James Louis Martin, of Russellville, was indicted on charges of first-degree assault, first-degree wanton endangerment, and receiving a stolen firearm. The charges originate from a shooting in the parking lot of the Hopkinsville Walmart on Clinic Drive on Sunday, August 23. Hopkinsville Police said Martin shot the father of his grandchild 32-year-old Wesley Beach, of Hopkinsville during a custody exchange. Beach was hit in the chest, which caused the bullet to travel through his arm. The two men started to argue after Martin reportedly grabbed the child during the exchange. Police said Beach was able to get to his vehicle and get a gun and return fire. Martin suffered injuries from glass breaking out of a car window but was not hit by gunfire. Martin’s gun was reported stolen out of Iowa.

Denzel Emmanuel Burgess was indicted on a charge of first-degree robbery. The charge stems from a June 14 robbery of the Burger King on Fort Campbell Boulevard in Oak Grove. Oak Grove Police said Burgess and a juvenile entered the restaurant before 11 p.m. armed with guns and demanded money. No injuries were reported in the robbery.
