A Trigg County woman died at a Nashville hospital Tuesday after she and a Murray woman were injured in a two-vehicle wreck in Calloway County earlier in the day.
According to the Calloway County Sheriffs Department, a preliminary investigation indicates 72-year old Karen Paul of Murray was eastbound on Highway 94 approaching Clayton Drive when, for an unknown reason, she crossed into the other lane and collided with a westbound vehicle driven by 78-year old Ellen Thomas of Cadiz.
Deputies said both women had to be extricated from their vehicles.
The sheriffs office reports both Paul and Thomas were transported to Murray-Calloway County Hospital and later flown to trauma centers for treatment of injuries. Officials at Vanderbilt University Medical Center confirmed to the News Edge Wednesday morning that Thomas had passed away.
