Trigg County Athletic Department Presented $23,690 from ‘Wildcat Wednesday’

Over $23,000 was raised during last week’s ‘Wildcat Wednesday’ athletic fundraiser that aired on WKDZ-FM and online at wkdzradio.com.

Trigg County High School Athletic Director Matt Wilder received $23,690 that was raised by the community that will offset income loss at sporting events due to COVID-19 attendance restrictions. He said the money raised will be put to immediate use.

click to download audioThe Cadiz Rotary Club matched the first $10,000 raised by the community and presented Wilder with that check Wednesday at the WKDZ studios. Rotary President J.B. Moore said the matching funds are the result of the Cadiz and Trigg County community supporting the rotary club.

click to download audioThe ‘Wildcat Wednesday’ fundraiser was broadcast on WKDZ with donations also taken on the station’s website. Edge Media President and CEO Beth Mann said six community partners gave $1,000 to the fundraiser with nearly 50 other businesses, individuals, and alumni also donating. In addition, Lake Barkley State Resort Park donated a stay at the park that was auctioned off online.

Mann said ‘Wildcat Wednesday’ was a chance to partner with the school system and athletic program to support the student-athletes during the time of an unprecedented pandemic.
