United Way of the Pennyrile Kicking Off Annual Campaign

The United Way of the Pennyrile will kick off their 75th annual campaign next week, in a different style thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Betsy Bond, executive director of the local organization, tells the News Edge they started in 1946, but they were not known as the United Way.

Bond adds next Wednesday morning, September 23, they will host a drive-through breakfast at the Trail of Tears Park in Hopkinsville from 7:30 to 9:30.

As people drive through the park, they will be able to pick up breakfast from Chick-fil-A Hopkinsville, Four Seasons Catering, and Hancock’s Neighborhood Market.

Bond says there will be an FM signal people can tune to while driving through the park.

The United Way of the Pennyrile has no specific goal in mind for this year’s campaign.
