CARES Act Funding Awarded to Three Area Cities

Governor Andy Beshear announced Thursday afternoon in collaboration with the Department for Local Government that 22 Western Kentucky governments were approved for over $14.9 million in reimbursements from the CARES Act.

The City of Hopkinsville was awarded over $2.2 million they will use for first responder payroll. Mayor Wendell Lynch says the funds are a huge boost to their economy and enable the City of Hopkinsville to provide much-needed support where it’s needed most, and where it will have the greatest impact.

City of Hopkinsville Financial Officer Robert Martin said during Tuesday’s city council meeting the city had already received the funds.

In addition, the cities of Cadiz and Oak Grove both received funding that will be used for police department payroll. The City of Cadiz was awarded $191,631, with the City of Oak Grove receiving $480,723.
