Funding Announced to Help Meals on Wheels Program for Emergencies

Kentucky Cabinet Secretary Dr. Eric Friedlander announced Tuesday afternoon funding to help the Department for Aging and Independent Living.

Dr. Friedlander says the $999,999 will help the state’s ‘Meals on Wheels’ program.

Dr. Friedlander says in Kentucky this grant is to help plan for the next emergency.

Dr. Friedlander also announced Tuesday afternoon, a $35.4 million opioid response grant that will increase access to medication-assisted treatment for opioid use disorder treatment and improve access to treatment for other drug use, like methamphetamine.

Governor Andy Beshear announced 745 new COVID-19 cases Tuesday, with 95 reported in children. In some good news, the state’s positivity rate is now 3.97%

Beshear adds there are 9 new COVID-linked deaths Tuesday, including an 83-year-old female from Hopkins County.
