Eddyville Riverport & Industrial Development Authority to Receive Funds For Repairs

The Eddyville Riverport and Industrial Development Authority is among five river ports throughout the state receiving funding for critical repairs and equipment replacement.

Governor Andy Beshear announced Tuesday the awarding of $450,000 in the form of grants to be matched by authorities in Eddyville, Paducah, Henderson, Owensboro, and Louisville. Governor Beshear indicated one of the greatest natural assets in Kentucky is our abundance of navigable waterways and river ports help move the nation’s cargo and it is essential to keep them modernized and well maintained.

According to the Governor’s office, the Eddyville Riverport and Industrial Development Authority will receive $109,890 toward repair of erosion of banks that support a boat lift near a boat repair bay. The project will reportedly involve the driving of sheet piling along the bank, backfilling with embankment material, and capping with rock.

The remaining $340,110 will be split between the Henderson County Riverport Authority, Louisville-Jefferson County Riverport Authority, Paducah-McCracken County Riverport Authority, and the Owensboro Riverport Authority.

The awards, which were recommended by the Kentucky Water Transportation Advisory Board, will be administered by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.
