Christian County’s COVID Case Total Stabilizing Ahead of Holiday Weekend

Christian County’s number of active COVID-19 cases appears to have stabilized over the past week with officials hoping they don’t see a post-holiday increase as they did earlier in the summer.

Christian County’s active case number decreased by seven Friday while reported recoveries were up 19.

There are 226 active cases of COVID-19 in Christian County according to the health department. 60 of these cases involve people under 21 which is the most since the outset of the pandemic. Cases involving people 60 and older have remained between 40 and 43 for the past nine days.

After seeing the seven-day rolling average of active cases reach an all-time high of 245 on August 23, that average has stayed below 230 for the past week.

However, Amanda Sweeney with the health department urges people to not let their guard down over Labor Day weekend when it comes to practicing proper social distancing guidelines.
