Four juveniles were injured in a one-vehicle accident in Caldwell County early Sunday morning.

Caldwell County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Chris Noel states around 2:20 deputies were dispatched to the area of Cadiz Road and State Highway 1272 for a single-vehicle accident with unknown injuries. He adds it was also reported the vehicle had rolled over and caught fire. Upon arriving at the scene Chief Deputy Noel reports the vehicle had been extinguished by crews with the Princeton Fire Department and was sitting approximately 30 yards off of the roadway in a field.

He notes a preliminary investigation reveals a female juvenile was traveling north on Cadiz Road when a deer ran out in front of her vehicle. She told deputies she swerved to try to avoid hitting the deer and lost control, running off the right side of the roadway and hitting a mailbox. The vehicle then hit an embankment, which caused the vehicle to overturn multiple times before coming to a rest off of the roadway and catching fire. It is unknown whether the juveniles were wearing seatbelts.
