Alabama Man Arrested After Christian County I-24 Pursuit

An Alabama man was charged with fleeing from deputies and DUI after a low-speed pursuit on Interstate 24 Sunday afternoon.

Christian County Sheriff’s deputies say a clerk at the Pembroke gas station called for deputies after a man took a drink without paying for it then returned it and appeared to be highly intoxicated. The man, identified as 33-year-old William Edwards Jr., got in his vehicle and left before law enforcement arrived.

Deputies received a call from a second caller that spotted the same vehicle driving recklessly with hazard lights on and followed it to Interstate 24. Deputies say  they located Edwards on Interstate 24 and he would not stop and fled at speeds of 45 mph before coming to a stop at the Pennyrile Parkway exit.

He is charged with first-degree fleeing or evading police and DUI.
