Hopkinsville Rotary Club Learns About Novelis

Novelis, a company that has become the world leader in aluminum rolling and recycling, is beginning operations in Guthrie after some setbacks because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Plant Manager Paul Banks told Hopkinsville Rotary Club members Tuesday that production is about six months behind.

Banks adds through the pandemic, Novelis had to furlough employees.

As of Tuesday, the plant has not had a single confirmed case of COVID-19 and as operations slowly startup at the facility, it will serve as an automotive finishing plant.

Banks says at Novelis, work culture trumps strategy.

Novelis is also making it a point to better the city of Guthrie. During his presentation, Banks showed Rotarians a picture that was painted for them of a regular train leaving Guthrie and a bullet train representing the change they hope to make.

Novelis operates rolling and recycling facilities across North America, South America, Europe, and Asia. The Guthrie facility is located at 8535 Russellville Road.

Banks says they are planning an expansion for the factory in the near future that will double its footprint.
