Traffic Stop Leads to Cocaine Charges Against Hopkinsville Man

A Hopkinsville man was charged with possession of drugs after a traffic stop for speeding Friday morning.

Hopkinsville Police say 31-year-old David Williams was stopped on East 9th Street at the intersection of Pennyrile Parkway for going 31 mph over the speed limit. During the stop, police say a white powder was all over Williams and his phone. A plastic bag containing cocaine was reportedly found in the center console.

Williams allegedly told police the bag was never inside the console and that he would have the officer’s job.

He is charged with possession of cocaine, reckless driving, and speeding.
