Former Hopkinsville Councilman Wesley Grimes Passes Away

The Hopkinsville community is mourning the loss of former city councilman and business owner, 87-year old Wesley Grimes, who passed away Thursday night.

Grimes served on Hopkinsville City Council from 2003-2018 and served on various boards and committees, including the Hopkinsville Electric System Board, Hopkinsville Water Environment Authority Board, Pennyrile RC&D Board, Christian County A.W. Watts Senior Citizens Board, Cable Television Oversight Authority Board, Surface and Stormwater Utility Board, just to name a few.

Grimes retired from the A&P Tea Company after 33-years and then owned and operated the Grimes Butcher Shop for 18-years and retired again in 2001.

Grimes was also a member of the Eagles and served two terms as president, and he was a lifetime member of the Lion’s Club and served one year as the director.

He is survived by his son and daughter, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren and many other relatives.
