A Trigg County woman has been named chief flight nurse and base manager for Vanderbilt LifeFlight’s Clarksville helicopter base.
Vanderbilt Lifeflight Manager Jerry Jones says Registered Nurse and EMT, Michelle Brazil, of Gracey, has been a flight nurse with Vanderbilt for 13 years. He says she will be responsible for overseeing the medical flight crew members at the base, managing day-to-day operations, assuring compliance with required credentials, and mentoring new staff.
Brazil began her nursing career in 1990 and ten years later she transitioned into the air medical field.
Brazil explains she actually began as a Labor and Delivery Nurse and as their census decreased and their doctors decided not to deliver anymore, she was pulled to the Emergency Department which began her experience.
Brazil says she is looking forward to helping make a less stressful environment for the medical flight crew members. She adds she knows the medical flight crew members provide exceptional care and she hopes to be one of their resources no matter what they need. Brazil also says she looks forward to building on and extending the relationships LifeFlight has with its customers.
