CCHD Official Discusses COVID-19 Positivity Rate

Health officials say the number of coronavirus cases continues to increase in Christian County with the county’s positivity rate higher than the state’s positivity rate.

Christian County Health Department spokeswoman Amanda Sweeney says they have seen an increase of over 30 cases since the weekend with the county’s positive rate of over 8%.

Sweeney adds about 1/4 of those tested are asymptomatic.

She says they are continuing to promote the Mask Up Campaign and currently the health department is running a Fancy Face Mask Challenge with submissions due Wednesday.

Sweeney points out the health department is continuing to provide COVID-19 testing at Tie Breaker Park from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Monday thru Friday. She adds testing at the site will continue until further notice and she encourages everyone to take advantage of the COVID testing.

The health department reported 23 new coronavirus cases Monday, raising the overall total number of cases to 769 since the outbreak began with 523 recoveries and eleven deaths related to the virus.
