Christian County Reports Eighth COVID-Related Death

The Christian County Health Department has reported the county’s eight COVID-related death and second in as many days. According to Health Director Kayla Bebout, the 97-year-old female who died had underlying health conditions.

The death is the third reported by the county in the past nine days and eighth since the pandemic began.

The news comes on a day when the health department reported five new cases and saw the active case total for the county drop to its lowest total since July 28.

There are 163 active cases in Christian County with the seven-day rolling average of 175 active cases the lowest since July 25.

The number of active cases involving people 21 and under has remained steady over the past two weeks, while the case total involving people between 22 and 59 has dropped 44-percent over the same time period.

However, active cases involving people 60 and older in Christian County have increased by 15.

Christian County’s 618 total cases rank 11th in the state according to the Kentucky COVID-19 website and data gathered by the News Edge.
