Suspects In 2016 Oak Grove Murder Appear In Court

Leonardo Miller

Two men accused of killing a Clarksville teen and dumping his body on the side of a road in Oak Grove more than four years ago appeared virtually for a pretrial conference in Christian County Circuit Court Tuesday morning.

Dequavion James and Leonardo Miller are charged with murder, first-degree robbery and tampering with physical evidence. They are accused of fatally shooting 19-year old DeAndre Palmer and then hiding his body in a closet before eventually dumping his body on the side of Carter Road in Oak Grove. Palmer’s body was found by police on July 20, 2016.

Miller and his defense attorney Tyler Brown were the first to appear before Chief Circuit Judge John Atkins followed by James and his defense attorney David Rye.

Commonwealth’s Attorney Rick Boling informed Judge Atkins that Miller’s attorney has received all of the discovery and is reviewing it.

Brown said he should be prepared for further discussions about the case in 30-days.

Judge Atkins set another pretrial conference in both cases for Tuesday afternoon, September 8, at 1:00 and said he hopes at that time the case can be resolved or a trial date would be set.
