Section Of Pedestrian Bridge To Be Installed Wednesday

Motorists traveling in Hopkinsville are reminded Country Club Lane near the intersection of Lafayette Road will be closed Wednesday to allow contractors to install a section of the new pedestrian bridge.

Community and Development Services Assistant Director Holly Boggess tells the News Edge they are excited about the bridge installation that is part of Phase 2 of the Greenway Trail expansion.

Country Club Lane will be closed to traffic Wednesday from 9:00 until 4:00 while the bridge is installed by Scott and Murphy. Boggess says the road will be reopened and then an additional closing of Lafayette Road will occur in the coming weeks in order for them to install that section of the pedestrian bridge, which they also anticipate will take a day to complete.

Boggess says the approximately $2 million pedestrian bridge was paid for by a grant and other funding as part of the Hoptown-Christian County WINS Projects.

Boggess says they have a projected date for the pedestrian bridge to be open to foot-traffic later this year, weather permitting.

Motorists traveling on Country Club Wednesday will need to pay attention to the detour signage to avoid the area.
