Dawson Springs Schools to Begin Virtual Only September 1st

Dawson Springs Independent Schools have released their plan of action for the upcoming school year, including their official start date.

According to a letter sent to parents and staff the Dawson Springs Board of Education voted unanimously for students to begin the school year September 1st through fully virtual remote instruction during a special called meeting Monday night. The letter added while this is not how administration and leadership would like to start the school year they believe it is the safest option for all students, staff, and their families.

The letter also stated students are expected to be ready and available online from 8 AM until 3 PM daily on school days and stressed students should not be working jobs or doing other things during school times in order to fully focus on school work. The administration is currently planning for students to work at various times throughout the day in collaboration with teachers and note students will be held accountable for all completed and non-completed work.

The letter explained more information surrounding student schedules, pick up information for textbooks and computers, daily processes and procedures, Special Education information, ATC information, meal distribution, and parking lot wifi availability on campus will be released in the coming weeks.

The administration is hoping students will be able to return to in-person instruction sometime in early or mid-October.
