The upcoming school year will feature numerous changes for students who attend Christian County Public Schools, especially a change in leadership with a superintendent who wants the district to be more transparent.
Chris Bentzel, who officially took over the position on July 1, became very familiar with the district in the months leading up to taking over the job from former Superintendent Mary Ann Gemmill. Since becoming the leader of the district, one of the first changes made was making a shift to live-streaming their board of education meetings online.
Bentzel says over 2,700 people viewed their last virtual meeting due to COVID-19 restrictions. He adds the meetings will continue to be live-streamed for transparency purposes.
In other improvements, Bentzel says they want to work to help their students in as many ways as possible. He adds they also want to re-brand the district moving forward.
Bentzel spoke to area media members Friday afternoon about the new direction of the district and how the school’s new virtual learning academy will work.
