Hopkinsville Man Charged In Connection To McKee Street Shooting

A Hopkinsville man wanted in connection to a shooting that happened on June 14th was arrested Tuesday.

Hopkinsville Police say 23-year-old Tavarious Mathews was arrested on a warrant for first-degree wanton endangerment and fleeing or evading police.

Mathews was wanted in connection to a shooting on McKee Street on June 14th that sent 33-year-old Maurikus Leavell and 35-year-old Charles Winston to the hospital with gunshot wounds.

Police say the shooting was called in around 2 am at a large party and when police arrived they found over 70 shell casings along with five guns in the area.

A woman also suffered a head injury due to falling down during the shooting.
