Group Continuing Push for Mask Mandate in Trigg County

TCMASK, the group that is asking Trigg County leaders to enact a mask mandate, approached Fiscal Court magistrates yet again Monday evening.

During the public comments portion of the meeting, group member Ken Cooley again asked the court to consider the three options they presented at the last meeting. The options ask the court to mandate mask-wearing, make it mandatory for all local government officials to wear a mask, and deploy coordinated public messaging on the importance of mask requirements.

Cooley also brought up the recent mask mandate from Governor Andy Beshear and asked magistrates who weren’t wearing a mask why they didn’t follow the mandate. Cooley also brought up an op-ed written by Lexington Mayor Linda Gorton that asked people to wear masks.

After nearly eleven minutes of comments and questions, magistrate Alana Dunn commended Cooley for his passion on the subject.

Dunn adds she does wear a mask when she is out in the community.

She says she doesn’t like being called out for setting a bad example because she is not.

After Dunn’s comments, Cooley again bashed a few magistrates and Judge Executive, Hollis Alexander, for not wearing a mask during the meeting.

Again, no action was taken on any of the mandates the group is asking the court to consider.

In other action, magistrates approved to enter Frye Road into the county road system. The road is less than three-tenths of a mile and is located off of Kentucky 139/South Road.
