Face Mask Mandate In Effect In Montgomery County

All Montgomery County, Tennessee residents and visitors are now required to wear face coverings in public to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 as the number of cases continues to climb in the county as well as the state.

Montgomery County Mayor Jim Durrett issued the emergency executive order Friday mandating the wearing of face coverings, effective at 12:01 Monday morning, July 20. It is set to expire at 12:01 Monday morning, July 27.

The order also states businesses and facilities are required to post signage required that patrons wear-coverings. County officials say previous orders that mandated that anyone working in a business that served the public needs to wear a face-covering will be vacated and replaced by the new emergency order that requires everyone to wear face-coverings beginning Monday.

As of Monday afternoon, the Tennessee Department of Public Health reported 1,173 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Montgomery County and 386 recoveries.

Statewide the number of coronavirus cases in Tennessee is 79,754 with 3,712 hospitalizations and 847 deaths. Health officials indicate nearly 46,000 of the cases have recovered.
