Hopkinsville became one of 22 cities in the country to be named 2020 All-America City Finalist by the National Civic League in March.
Nikki Durham, administrative coordinator for the city, tells the News Edge the process in which they were named a finalist began last fall.
Durham adds they submitted an application earlier this year that highlighted all of the great things that have occurred in the city in the last few years.
One special distinction that will be awarded at the final competition is the 2020 All-America City Youth Award.
She adds there are some criteria the National Civic League is looking for when applying for the youth award.
Durham says a committee will meet after Friday to select one Hopkinsville-Christian County youth before August 3 to submit to the National Civic League.
