Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation Promoting Upcoming Events (w/VIDEO)

Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation is thanking the community for making the annual Red, White, and Oooh! fireworks show a success this year.

Superintendent Tab Brockman tells the News Edge they had a great crowd on hand Saturday night.

Parking lots at Hopkinsville Community College, Christian County Middle and High schools, and the Brickyard Plaza were full of people practicing social distancing for the show that lasted about 30 minutes.

Beginning this week, the department will begin hosting Hoptown Hose Down. Programs Coordinator Toby Hudson says the event will take place every weekday through August.

Hudson adds every Monday they will stop at DeBow Recreation Complex, with other locations spread throughout the city.

The Hopkinsville YMCA Summer Feeding Program will provide food for children at each stop through July.

Additionally, Brockman says the Hoptown Half Marathon and 5K will take place on Saturday, September 19.

You can register to participate in the half marathon, 5K, or become a “Wally’s Walker” by visiting HoptownHalf.com.

The department is also continuing to host Movies in the Park, which have been drive-in style over the last two months. For more information visit the Hopkinsville Parks & Recreation Facebook page.
