Visitation Can Begin Next Week at Long-Term Care Facilites

Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services Secretary Eric Friedlander announced Thursday afternoon that visitation can resume at nursing homes beginning next month across the state.

Friedlander says visitation will resume in nursing homes and in Intermediate Care Facilities for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities starting July 15th.

Friedlander also reports that visitation at assisted living and personal care facilities and group activities with ten or fewer people can resume beginning Monday. He adds this will also mean that communal dining and off-site appointments can also resume.

In addition, the Kentucky Department for Public Health issued an advisory for residents Thursday who have traveled to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, over the past two weeks. The department advises those who have traveled to Myrtle Beach to self-quarantine for 14 days and monitor themselves for COVID-19 symptoms.

Governor Andy Beshear announced 280 new COVID-19 cases raising the statewide total to 14,617. Beshear also reported eight new deaths, including a 69-year old male from Christian County. Since the pandemic began, 546 Kentucky residents have died because of the disease.
