Just over 80 full-time jobs are coming to Princeton and Caldwell County with the announcement of a more than $1.5 million relocation and expansion of Porter Road Butcher Meat Co. LLC.

Governor Andy Beshear’s office announced the expansion Thursday and stated due to heightened demand, Porter Road is expected to relocate to two buildings encompassing 35,000 square feet of space on Masonic Drive to increase capacity. The move will be a substantial increase from its current 7,000 square foot facility on Hopkinsville Street and would provide Porter Road with a larger cutting room and expanded packaging and shipping capabilities. The projected 83 new jobs will include various wage levels and primarily consist of production staff, such as butchers, packaging and shipping positions, and an increase in administrative, management, and maintenance roles.

Princeton Mayor Kota Young states he is thankful Princeton will be featured so prominently in Porter Road’s plans and is excited the project will bring a significant number of good, well-paying job opportunities to citizens. Caldwell County Judge-Executive Larry Curling adds these new employment opportunities will lead to a healthier community and the county is looking forward to a long alliance with this up and coming company.

Lake Barkley Partnership Executive Director Amanda Davenport says the expansion signals continued growth for the region and will continue to establish the region as a leader in agriculture and food production.

Co-Founder Chris Carter states their business is built on strong relationships with their partners, customers, and community, and it was these relationships that brought them to Princeton six years ago and lead to the decision to expand. Carter and James Peisker founded Porter Road in 2010 in Nashville and went online in 2017, serving customers nationwide with all products processed and shipped from the Princeton facility.

Currently Porter Road employs 31 people in Caldwell County and plans to complete the move to their new location by the end of 2020.
