A Texas man has been arrested and charged in connection with the discovery of a dead body found in a plastic container on Kentucky Lake over the weekend.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation announced that 60-year-old Jeffery Rogers of Arlington, Texas was arrested by Texas Rangers in Fort Worth Tuesday afternoon. He is charged in Tennessee with one count of Abuse of a Corpse and one count of Tampering with Evidence.

The body of 41-year-old Traci Jones of Granbury, Texas was found floating in a plastic container on Kentucky Lake in the area of Colson Hollow in Trigg County Saturday night. An autopsy performed by the Kentucky State Medical Examiner showed the cause of death to be a homicide.

During the course of the investigation, the TBI discovered that Rogers used a rented boat in Paris, Tennessee to dispose of Jones’ body in Kentucky Lake.

On Monday, TBI investigators signed arrest warrants for Rogers in Henry County. His bond is set at $1 million as he awaits extradition to Tennessee. The TBI said the homicide investigation remains active and ongoing and did not release details regarding the relationship between Rogers and Jones.
