Hopkinsville Man Found With Stolen Gun

A Hopkinsville man was charged after he was reportedly found with drugs and a stolen gun on Woodmill Road Friday morning.

Hopkinsville Police say 36-year-old John Foster was a passenger in a vehicle stopped for a seat belt violation on Woodmill Road at the intersection of Durrett Avenue.

During the stop, police say they could smell marijuana and Foster told police he had marijuana and a gun in the vehicle.

He reportedly told police he had taken the gun from a friend when the friend was intoxicated and was about to return it. Foster was found to be a convicted felon in the gun was reported stolen.

He was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana, receiving stolen property, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, and tampering with physical evidence.
