Hopkinsville Library Recipient Of $5,000 Grant

The Hopkinsville-Christian County Public Library recently received a $5,000 Kentucky Humanities Grant. Kentucky Humanities has awarded $500,000 to 85 cultural organizations throughout Kentucky through funds from the National Endowment for the Humanities as part of the $2.2 trillion CARES Act economic stabilization plan appropriated by the United States Congress.

Executive Director at the library, DeeAnna Sova says when they were notified that these funds were being made available the applied immediately. She adds they could not be more pleased with being a recipient. The library has partnered with Kentucky Humanities several times in the past, bringing programs and events to the community. Sova says while the library’s services are limited, and they are unsure how long until in-person service can be provided, the funds will allow them the opportunity to purchase equipment and software that will provide outreach through technology, distance learning, and in-house equipment once the mandated limitations are lifted.

The Hopkinsville-Christian County Public Library reopened to the public June 8th with limited services under their Phase II reopen plan. A complete list of services that are available can be found at http://hccpl.org/reopening-policies/.
