UPDATE – High-Speed Pursuit Ends In A Crash In Hopkinsville

Deputies have released the names of two people charged after a high-speed pursuit in Hopkinsville Thursday afternoon.

Christian County Sheriff’s Deputies say they stopped a vehicle on Interstate 24 for speeding at the Pennyrile Parkway exit and as the deputies walked to up to the vehicle, the driver 33-year-old Edward Settles of Hopkinsville fled.

Deputies chased the vehicle into Hopkinsville on Pennyrile Parkway before the pursuit ended on McHenry Drive at Breathitt Street.

The pursuit reportedly ended when the car collided with a sign and a deputy’s vehicle.

 2.5 pounds of marijuana, scales and a stolen gun were reportedly found inside the vehicle.

No one was injured in the crash.

Settles and his passenger 32-year-old Henry Brown of Clarksville were arrested and charged with first-degree fleeing or evading police, receiving stolen property, and trafficking marijuana.

Settles was also charged with first-degree wanton endangerment along with several traffic violations.

Brown was also arrested on a warrant for probation violation
