Adams, Thomas Looking to Continue to Serve in Hopkinsville’s Ward One

An incumbent and a former councilman are a part of the Democrat primary election ballot for the Ward One Hopkinsville City Council seat.

Darvin Adams, who currently serves on the council, says his opponent Thomas Grant hasn’t done anything for the residents of Ward One.

Grant listed off numerous things he did during his time as a councilman and says all Adams does is speak.

Grant says he was approached by residents in Ward One to run for the seat since Adams has not done anything for them.

When talking about the greatest challenge the city faces, Adams saying housing in his ward and the entire city needs to be addressed.

Grant says the current greatest challenge is that the city must make up lost income.

When asked about adjusting the city budget to ensure transportation, health, and mental health services are available to those who are undeserved both said they are in favor of helping everyone in need. Both say skin color shouldn’t determine your need for assistance.

Coming up Monday we’ll have a story about Ward Six candidates Paula Knight and Ken Hatzakorzian.
