PADD Discusses Senior Services Being Offered Through Pandemic

The Pennyrile Area Development District (PADD) Board of Directors held their annual meeting Monday afternoon via Zoom to discuss what is going on around the nine-county region.

One service that has seen an increase of services includes the Area Agency on Aging and Independent Living. Director Jill Collins says they received money from the CARES Act to provide meals to any seniors in need through the COVID-19 pandemic.

If you are a senior in need of meals, you can call 1-866-844-4396.

Collins adds their in-home services started up again on May 26.

In other news shared with board members, Workforce Executive Director Sheila Clark says they may receive up to $900,000, which would come from a National Dislocated Workers grant.

Board members also approved recommendations from the nominating committee naming Trigg County Judge-Executive Hollis Alexander as PADD Vice-Chair and Crittenden County Judge-Executive Perry Newcom as Chair. Their terms will last one year and are effective July 1.

Additionally, the board reappointed Trigg County residents John Sumner and Stephanie Perry and Lyon County resident Lee Wilson. Deb Domke, of Lyon County, was also appointed to the board. Each will serve a three-year term beginning July 1.

PADD serves residents in Trigg, Christian, Caldwell, Todd, Hopkins, Lyon, and Muhlenberg counties.
