Chief Operations Officer At CCPS Announces Retirement

Christian County Public Schools’ Chief Operations Officer Brad Hawkins announced Thursday he is retiring November 1st.

Communications Director John Rittenhouse says Hawkins, a native of Wingo, was named Chief Operations Officer for the school district in 2015 and has led the revitalization of many of the district’s physical assets. He adds Hawkins served as a district trainer for process and performance improvement and led the district through several cost-saving projects. Hawkins also worked with local emergency management officials to revise and update school emergency response plans.

At Thursday night’s school board meeting, Superintendent Mary Ann Gemmill said she was happy to have worked with Hawkins, who has served 31 years in public education.

According to Rittenhouse, Hawkins holds a Master’s Degree and a K-12 Superintendent Certification from Murray State University.In addition to working at the school district, Rittenhouse says Hawkins has spent many hours volunteering for the PetPartners Organization which provides animal-assisted interventions to a wide variety of individuals including veterans with PTSD, seniors, students with literacy challenges, students with disabilities and hospice.
