Certain Family Members Allowed At CCPS Virtual Graduation

Certain family members will be allowed to attend the virtual graduation ceremonies at Christian County and Hopkinsville High schools.

Pursuant to guidance issued by Governor Andy Beshear, Christian County Public Schools Communications Director John Rittenhouse says they are excited to announce ach graduate of the Class of 2020 may have up to four (4) family members (parents and/or legal guardians only) attend and watch the senior walk across the stage and receive his or her diploma. He adds seniors and their family members must leave campus promptly upon the conclusion of the senior’s time slot.

Upon arrival, Rittenhouse says the senior and their family members will remain in their vehicle until the senior’s scheduled time slot, at which time they can exit the vehicle and enter the building. He adds CCHS and HHS will be sending more particular guidance on designated entry points for guests.

In addition, Rittenhouse says seniors and each of their family members must bring their own mask to wear, sign a COVID-19 waiver, have their temperature taken by a healthcare professional, and apply hand sanitizer. While inside the school building, seniors and their family members will be required to follow social distancing guidelines and wear a mask. He adds seniors will only be allowed to remove their masks, momentarily when their photograph is being taken and they are being video recorded by school contracted personnel. He adds seniors and their family members must follow the instructions of all school personnel, law enforcement, and public health officials while on campus.

According to Rittenhouse, family members will not be allowed to use flash photography or interrupt the commencement process in any way. Family members watching the graduate are expected to leave campus immediately, and no photographs or gatherings of any kind will be permitted. He adds that administrators in the school district have the right to deny admittance to any guest per violation of CDC guidelines.

Rittenhouse says it’s imperative for parents and guardians to go to the district’s website at christian.kyschools.us and click on the Virtual Graduation link where a document detailing the requirements for the graduate and family members can be found.
