Changes Coming For KY Pandemic Unemployment Assistance Recipients

Some Kentucky residents will see changes in unemployment benefits in the coming days.

During the Tuesday COVID-19 update, Josh Benton of the Workforce Development Cabinet said everyone receiving Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) will see a majority of the changes. He adds this category is for people who typically do not qualify for benefits.

Benton adds there is a bit of good news for the people on PUA.

Everyone on PUA will also be able to view more detailed information about payments and when they can be requested on the online dashboard by the end of the week.

Another change coming is the ability for employers to report return to work dates.

Benton adds there will be some exceptions for employees who are not able to return to work right away.

During his update, Benton says the state is approaching 600,000 unemployment claims, with detailed numbers by county expected to be released soon.
